Bluepencil is delighted to announce that our site in Little Hallingbury, Essex was approved at planning committee yesterday.
The proposal for up to 52 new homes, including 50% affordable housing, was deemed to have met Grey Belt policy by officers and members. Our outline planning application was submitted by Hawridge Land and their joint venture partner, Orchestra Land, in August this year following pre-application advice with PINS (due to Uttlesford District Council being in special measures at the time), the Environment Agency, the LLFA and Essex Highways.
This is the first time members in Uttlesford have resolved to approve a major application under Grey Belt policy which is especially pleasing against a backdrop of Little Hallingbury Parish Council trying to designate the site for both Local Green Space and a ‘green gap’ in their emerging Neighbourhood Plan in direct response to our application being submitted. This was clear and deliberate mis-use of the neighbourhood plan process.
